The NJSA would like to recognize Ethan Wendt of Irwin, Ohio as a Youth Spotlight. Ethan is the son of Kevin and Megan Wendt, he is 5 years old and his sister Riley is 7, who is in the 2nd grade, also loves pigs and she took this picture. I asked him to tell me a little about his family and this was his response. “My mom is Megan Wendt she works online, makes us dinner, and takes me to school and football practice. My dad is Kevin and he works on the farm and auctions tractors, cows, pigs and farms. He also is online a bunch on the computer.” Ethan’s favorite breed of hogs is Duroc which was much to my surprise considering we mostly see his father in his unmistakable Hampshire belt. Ethan made me proud as a fellow Ohioan when I asked him what he wanted to be when he grows up. “I want to play football for Ohio State and the Cleveland Browns, be an auctioneer, and a fireman!” He says that his favorite shows are Georgia (The NJSA South East Regional) and Iowa (The World Pork Expo) and his favorite part of the show is “I like showmanship and the part when you win a class and get to show to the judge again for champions.” NJSA exhibitors like Ethan and his sister Riley makes my job as a board director the most rewarding experience I have been involved with. I think it is clear that Ethan has big aspirations and with the help of his family members he is going to not only be an outstanding NJSA Exhibitor but I’m sure he can play for the Buckeyes and do whatever else he puts his mind to. Good Luck Ethan!
