The NJSA would like to recognize Brodi Voight, 10, of Tipp City, Ohio, as a youth spotlight. She is the daughter of Stacy and Dan Voight, and sibling to her sister, Tyla and brother, Daniel. Brodi will be entering the fifth grade this fall at Bethel Elementary. Outside of school Brodi stays busy by being an active member of the Hoof N It 4-H Club where she shows pigs, goats and turkeys. Besides showing animals Brodi loves soccer. She is regularly attending practices and camps and her team recently placed second, one point from first, in their division.
Brodi says her mom grew up showing livestock and she introduced Brodi to the show pig world. Brodi has been showing pigs as long as she can remember and has been a member of the NJSA for eight years. During her time in NJSA she has attended National Junior Summer Spectacular, World Pork Expo Junior National, Eastern Regional, and Southeast Regional. However, of the shows she has attended, her favorite is Summer Spectacular. “Louisville is my favorite show because most of my friends are there and I like camping there, it is a lot of fun,” she says.
Her most memorable NJSA moment was when her sister, Tyla, won Champion Purebred Barrow at World Pork Expo. And one of her proudest moments was at the Southeast Regional when she placed in the top five in showmanship.
Brodi’s favorite contest is the gilt show. “I like the gilt show because there is not as much pressure like there is in showmanship or skillathon,” she says. Voight enjoys showing pigs because she is able to meet new people and make friends from across the country.
As Brodi finishes elementary school and enters junior high and eventually high school, she plans to attend University of Dayton. While here she would like to study to become and ear doctor.
The NJSA would like to thank Brodi for her participation in NJSA, and wish her the best of luck on all her future goals and endeavors.
