Kyle Mendes

NJSA member Kyle Mendes is an 18-year-old from Modesto, California and has been involved in the organization for a number of years.  From the first time the NJSA visited California, Kyle was active in the organization, showing at the first Western Regional and every Western Regional event since that point.

Supported by his parents; John and Hedi and his two brothers; Brad and Jason, Kyle continues to produce showpigs while attending Modesto Junior College.  At Modesto Kyle is studying Agriculture Education in hopes of one day becoming an agriculture instructor and giving back to the organization that influenced him as a student.  Outside of the classroom he is an active member of the livestock judging team, the Agriculture Ambassador program, Modesto Young Farmers Organization, and any other livestock related activity he can find including the planning of the colleges judging clinic, jackpot show, and field days event.

Kyle’s fondest NJSA memory occurred at last year’s Western Regional when he was awarded Champion Duroc Barrow and Reserve Grand Champion Barrow Overall.  He said that this accomplishment means a lot to him because he was carrying out the family tradition of producing quality purebred hogs and finding success on the grounds in which the show was held.

The NJSA would like to wish Kyle the best of luck as he competes on his college’s judging team and pursues opportunities at a senior college.  His goal to become a mentor in the industry as many members of the industry have been for him is something our organization admires and applauds him for.

Please help us recognize Kyle as an NJSA Youth Spotlight!
