Morgan Mench is one of the NJSA Youth Spotlights for the month of July. Morgan is the fifteen year old daughter of Jessica and Tom Mench of Shirley, Indiana. Morgan has one younger sister, Megan. A sophomore at Eastern Hancock High School, Mogran, enjoys playing basketball.
The National Junior Summer Spectacular in Louisville, Kentucky was Morgan’s first pig show at the age of eight. Morgan and her family attend the World Pork Expo, Southeast Regional, and Summer Spectacular each year. When asked what her favorite part of showing pigs was Morgan replied, “I enjoy spending time with family and friends.” The Yorkshire breed is Morgan’s top pick when selecting a breed to show at NJSA events.
Through her NJSA experience Morgan recalls her favorite moment as last year’s Summer Spectacular. Morgan was selected as 5th overall in intermediate showmanship, her first year competing in the intermediate division.
Outside of showing hogs Morgan enjoys spending time with friends playing basketball and judging livestock. Although she has a few years before making a decision on college, she plans to attend Purdue University and potentially pursue a degree in education. Congratulations Morgan Mench for being selected as one of this month’s youth spotlights!
