Eclectic, Ala.

Allison George is 14 years old and from Eclectic, Alabama. Her parents are Carissa and Chris George. Allison is in 8th grade at Eclectic Middle School. She has an older brother Dillon. Her hobbies at school include volleyball, basketball, beta club and serving as a teacher’s aide. Outside of school Allison attends Prospect Baptist Church, shows pigs and cattle and enjoys the beach, shopping and hanging out with friends.

Allison has been showing pigs for seven years. Her first show was in Elkhart County, Indiana at an open show at the age of 7. Showing and raising livestock has been a tradition in her family for more than 50 years, going back to her grandfather, Ronnie George.  Allison enjoys meeting new people and showing in the various competitions. Her favorite show is the NJSA Southeast Regional because she is representing the southeast at this show. She has been an NJSA member for 5 years and has participated in the WPX, NJSS, Southwest Regional and Southeast Regional. Her favorite event is the skillathon because while waiting for the testing she gets to meet new members. Her most memorable moment in the NJSA was winning both junior and intermediate showmanship at the Southeast Regional. Allison’s advice to a younger NJSA member is to study, study, study for the skillathon and to have fun.

Allison’s accomplishments within the NJSA are winning the 5th Duroc Overall at NJSS, 3rd Landrace Overall at WPX, Junior Showmanship Champion, Intermediate Showmanship Champion and NJSA Southeast Sweepstakes Int. Div. Champion. Her other accomplishments include Alabama Champion Exhibitor, AL State Market Grand Champion and AL 4-H Grand Champion.  Allison’s plans after high school are to attend college in Alabama and to work in the educational field or become a physical therapist. Her favorite quote is “Work hard and become a leader, be lazy and never succeed” - Proverbs 12:24. Allison would like to thank her family for all of their support and help in preparing and transporting her pigs and also her grandfather, Ronnie George, for all of his knowledge in livestock.
