Nalaney Guyer
Robinson, Ill.
The NJSA would like to congratulate Nalaney Guyer, 7, of Robinson, Illinois as a youth spotlight member. Nalaney is the daughter of Dave and Lucy Guyer and has one older sister, Ashton, who is also her one of her fellow showman. Nalaney attends New Hebron Christian School where she enjoys playing basketball and her art class. Outside of school Nalaney spends her time showing pigs and cattle, during the summer she attends a Bible School, and she as is a Tumbler.
Nalaney has been showing pigs now for five years, four of those have been with NJSA, with her first show being World Pork Expo. Since then, she has added National Junior Summer Spectacular, and the NAILE to her show schedule. To date though, NJSS proves to be her favorite because of all the different contests that are offered, along with the showing opportunities and competition in the ring. She also thoroughly enjoys the Barnyard Olympics, making a point of being involved with them. Of the many contests, Judging is still her favorite because she likes “finding the best pig.” When asked what it is about showing pigs that she enjoys the most she said “I like to compete with everyone, and meet all the other kids.”
Since being in NJSA, Nalaney’s most memorable moment was winning sweepstakes at NJSS 2011 as a novice showman. Her accomplishments also include being top 10 in Judging at WPX, top 10 in Showmanship at WPX, as well as top 10 in Skillathon at NJSS. Outside of NJSA, Nalaney has had many personal successes in the cattle ring, as well as in her Tumbling.
Returning to the hogs, Nalaney’s favorite NSR breed stands to be the Hampshire for the coloring. As for the future, Nalaney wants to be a Vet, with her reasoning being “I like taking care of animals.” As a final word of parting, Nalaney would like to thank her Dad and her big sister for all the help and support they have given her.
The NJSA would like to congratulate Nalaney on being such an outstanding role model and NSJA member, and wish her the best of luck at all of her future endeavors and shows!
