Olivia Caldwell

Olivia Caldwell

Elmwood, Ill.

The National Junior Swine Association would like to recognize Olivia Caldwell from Elmwood Illinois. Olivia is a 9 year old daughter of Todd and Kim Caldwell and sister to Maddison (13) and Cole (5) and currently is in 3rd grade at Elmwood Grade School. In school, Olivia enjoys playing basketball and reading in her spare time when she is not helping on the farm at home. She loves working with cattle and pigs, playing with her friends and watching anything on the Disney Channel.

Olivia started showing pigs in 2008 and has loved it ever since. She has a very successful showing career including Champion York Gilt 2008 ICPA, Champion Chester and Poland Gilts in 2011 ICPA Circuit, Champion Poland Gilt at WPX 2011 and Champion Poland Gilt Summer Type Conference Team Purebred 2011, 3rd Overall Champion Landrace Gilt 2009 NJSS, and also Overall Champion Novice Showman ICPA 2011. With all of this winning, her most memorable NJSA moment was winning 3rd overall Novice Showman in 2010 at Louisville. Even with being such a competitive showman, Olivia says her favorite part of showing pigs is spending time with her family and she loves to travel to all of the shows and also meet all kinds of new people. She also likes to see all of her hard work pay off. Olivia also said, “I have had a wonderful mentor, Kayla Meyer that has been a wonderful role model for me.  I always enjoy getting to see her at the shows!!” She is getting pigs ready  for Denver and also will be showing two heifers during this winter.

Olivia would like to tell younger NJSA members to have as much fun as you can and you can meet friends from all over. Also to go to as many shows as possible because you learn so much and there is always fun stuff to do!

The NJSA would like to recognize Olivia Caldwell and congratulate her on an already great career and wish her the best of luck throughout the future!!
