Hard work and determination can pay off, especially for 14-year-old Aaron Balowski of
Growing up on a farm, Aaron learned the value of hard work at a young age. Aaron’s family farms 52 acres and finishes over 7,000 market hogs each year. Aaron has been showing pigs for six years. Some of Aaron’s successes include winning first in showmanship at the Michigan State Fair and being eighth place in the Michigan State Livestock Judging Contest.
Megan Townsend, Seedstock EDGE Summer Intern says, “Aaron is a genuine, hard-working individual that is willing to help anyone out.”
Aaron attended his first National Junior Summer Spectacular four years ago when a member in his 4-H club told him about NJSA and the NJSS. Aaron decided to attend that year without a gilt, however he participated in the different contests. He enjoyed it so much, he has made it back to the NJSS every year since. Aaron was very successful this year in
Besides NJSA, Aaron a ninth-grader at Bronson Junior/Senior High School, is active in 4-H, FFA, Band and Choir. He is also active on his county livestock judging team. In the future he would like to judge for
