Payton Elizabeth Hines, 4, is the daughter of Brian and Donna Hines of Quincy , Michigan . She attends St. Paul Lutheran-Sonshine Kids Preschool. Along with her older sister, Cailyn, Payton helps her mom and dad take care of their pigs and small flock of sheep. Helping out on the farm has inspired her to want to raise pigs of her own when she gets older.

Payton’s favorite “event” in the NJSA is winning ribbons. She has done this several times, including: 2003 Eastern Regional Novice Sweepstakes 8th, 2004 Eastern Regional Novice Sweepstakes 6th, Grand and Reserve grand Champion Hampshire gilts at the 2004 Eastern Regional, as well as Grand Champion Bred & Owned Hampshire gilt at that show.

Miss Hines’ show career began before she was 2 years old, when she participated in the Spartan Jackpot Pee Wee Showmanship contest. Describing the occasion, Donna Hines says, “She stayed out there for the whole class and hit her pig more than anyone else!”

Other than showing pigs, Payton likes to play outside, go to school, color, and paint. Her favorite breeds and Hampshire and Duroc and her most memorable pig show thus far was exhibiting her pig, Penelope, at the 2004 National Junior Summer Spectacular.

Congratulations to Payton Hines , MI, for becoming involved in the swine industry at such a young age!

Best of luck in making your dreams come true!
