Jordan Hoewischer

There aren’t too many people that can say they play with pigs both on and off the field. However 19-year-old Jordan Hoewischer can say he does.
Jordan
plays football for The Ohio State University, which is one of his greatest accomplishments. Not only is
Jordan
a football player, but he is also an active member in the National Junior Swine Association.
Jordan
is the son of Bill and Lisa Hoewischer of
Sidney
,
Ohio
. He has two brothers, Ross and Travis.
Jordan
has been showing pigs for the last 12 years. He grew up on a family farm which specializes in breeding stock and show pigs. The Hoewischer family raises
Yorkshire
, Hampshire, Duroc, Landrace and crossbreds.
Jordan
exhibited the Reserve Champion Overall gilts at the National Junior Summer Spectacular both in 2000 and 2001. “I joined NJSA because it gave me the opportunity to show more,”
Jordan
says.
Besides showing and raising pigs, football takes up much of
Jordan
’s time. A typical week during football season consists of practice five times a week and game day.
“My favorite event is the NJSA leadership conference because it gives me the opportunity to meet people from all over the country,”
Jordan
says.
While at The Ohio State University, Jordan would like to continue to play football while he pursues his degree in Turf Science. After school, he would like to work as a greens keeper for a golf course.
