Leann Alphin, 16, of
Alphin’s family heritage began molding the person she is from the day she was born growing up on her grandfather’s farm. Through years of experience and instruction handed down from her grandfather, father and brother, she decided it was time to have some fun of her own by showing the animals she had helped her brother with.
The young exhibitor has been showing swine for 6 years, but only became a member of the NJSA 2 years ago. She joined the organization to exhibit her hogs on a national level and become acquainted with other exhibitors that share her love of agriculture. Her favorite aspect of the NJSA is showmanship because it is an opportunity for her to display her showring skills and knowledge of the industry.
Alphin’s greatest accomplishments include a Grand Champion at the Delaware State Fair as well as three Reserve Champions. She also takes great pride in the fact that she bred and raised 42 pigs out of 5 sows last year including Hampshires, Yorkshires and Durocs. She’s also taken her hogs to various states, including
