Emily is the 15-year-old daughter of Luanne and Tim Arkfeld from Nebraska . Attending school at Loureds Central Catholic, Emily is an active 10th grader in her community. Sharing her passion for agriculture with her two siblings Rachael, 14, and Patrick, 10, the family participates in the local independent 4H program and Emily’s father is an agriculture educator in Nebraska City .

Emily began showing pigs in the peewee showmanship competition when she was 3 years old at the Madison County Fair with her Hampshire hog. Today Emily is very active in the show arena. Emily attends the World Pork Expo Junior National, National Junior Summer Spectacular, American Royal, Fall Classic and the National Barrow Show Junior Barrow Classic along with her county and state fairs.

When she is not in the show ring, Emily can be found participating in many community organizations. Emily is a member of her school’s speech team, student council, band, track team, Catholic youth group and the Lourdes FFA. Emily was just elected to the position of President for the Lourdes FFA and received her swine proficiency award this year at the Nebraska State FFA Convention.

Emily exhibited the Reserve Champion Hampshire Gilt at the World Pork Expo Junior Event and received second place in intermediate showmanship at the National Barrow Show. Emily also enjoys participating in the skillathon competition and the speech contest where she received first place intermediate at the NJSS.

Emily’s favorite NJSA event is the Summer Spectacular because she enjoys meeting new people and developing leadership skills while having fun. After high school, Emily hopes to major in meats and food science.
