Katie Dillon, a 20-year-old who grew up in Martinsville , Ind. , and currently resides in Washington Courthouse, Ohio , has had a desire to be involved in the swine industry since she could walk.  She is the daughter of Kevin and Teresa Dillon and sister to her older brother, Bradley.

She recently graduated with a dual Associate’s degree in Ag Business and Ag Production at Black Hawk East Junior College where she participated on the Livestock Judging Team and served as a representative of the Ag Business Club and as secretary for Phi Theta Kappa. Currently, she is employed with Real McCoy Genetics in Bloomingburg , Ohio

Some of her accomplishments have been winning Senior Showmanship at the World Pork Expo Junior National, finishing tenth overall in the swine judging contest at the 2006 National Western Stock Show in Denver, Colo., winning the Indiana 4-H State Judging Contest in 2004 and reigning as Indiana Purebred Pork Queen in 2003-2004.

Katie says, “The NJSA has impacted my life, and without it, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Swine have been a part of my life since I was a little girl, and it has always been a family thing.  I have learned about responsibility, dedication, and hard work, and what I have enjoyed most about the NJSA has been meeting so many people, both young and old, along the way.”

Katie hopes to continue staying actively involved in the swine industry. She loves working with kids and enjoys teaching them showmanship and judging skills and hopes one day to start judging shows of her own.

Katie, thanks for being such an asset to the swine industry!
