Sixteen-year-old Ashley Helmuth of Lone Oak,
Ashley’s favorite event in the NJSA is showmanship because it showcases an exhibitor’s ability to present their animal and their knowledge about the industry opposed to the quality of an individual’s animal in the gilt show.
Ashley is no stranger to the winner’s circle and has had many accomplishments in the NJSA and on the national level. In showmanship, she made the Top 10 two years in a row at the NJSS and had a champion or reserve champion at the Southwest Regional four years in a row. Ashley is also very active in many other organization such as FCSA, FBLA, DECA, the Hunt Co. 4-H club, and the Newlife youth group.
In her spare time she enjoys track, soccer, softball, volleyball, and cheerleading. In the future, Ashley hopes to win showmanship at the NJSS and possibly become a NJSA board member. Also, she plans to go to Texas A&M to become a vet, and after college, help her dad raise pigs.
