A.J. Lanier has been an active NJSA member for several years. He is the 17-year-old son of Jim and Becky Lanier and attends Phillipsburg High School

A.J. and his parents live in town, but they have a 30-sow, farrow-to-finish operation. A.J. has been showing for 9 years. He joined the NJSA because he heard many great things about it. When A.J. found out about the size of the shows, he said he wanted to be able to exhibit at these events.

A.J.’s favorite thing to do is attend the leadership conferences. A.J. especially enjoyed the 2006 NJSA Leadership Conference that took place in Modesto Calif.

This young man has earned numerous awards. He exhibited the Grand Champion Hampshire Bred Gilt at the Kansas State Fair. A.J. also won the State Kansas Award Application for swine. Due to this award, he won a trip to Atlanta . A.J. is also a Key Club award member.

In his spare time, AJ like to golf, hunt, fish, and show pigs. A.J. is a member of 4-H, FFA, NJSA, and golf.

After graduating high school, A.J. plan on attending Kansas State University .  He would like to major in Mechanical Engineering. A.J. would also like to continue showing pigs as long as possible. A.J. hopes to someday be elected to the NJSA Board of Directors.

Congratulations, A.J., on all your accomplishments and good luck with all your endeavors!
