Ashtin Guyer has been driving hogs around the show ring for the past two years. She is the 6-year-old daughter of Dave and Lucy Guyer of West York, Ill. She has one younger sister, Nalaney, who is 3 years old.
This young lady is one smart cookie and says that her favorite subject in kindergarten, other than rest time, is reading. Her favorite book is "The Bad Case of Stripes." Ashtin also enjoys watching Spongebob Squarepants and says Squidwirt (not Spongebob!) is her favorite character.
When Ashtin is not busy reading books or watching Spongebob Squarepants, she also enjoys taking care of her pigs. Currently, Ashtin and her family care for nine pigs, including her own pig named Rose. She says that her favorite breed of pig to show is a Duroc “because they eat good.”
Even though Ashtin has only been showing for two years, this little showman has experienced quite a bit of success in the show ring. She was named Division 1 showmanship champion at the 2006 NAILE, as well as showmanship champion at the 2007 Farmhand Show held in Indianapolis. She also claimed 9th place in Novice Showmanship at the 2006 NJSS.
This little lady loves being a part of the NJSA and says that she likes meeting new people and making new friends from all over the country when she is at the events.
Thank you for being a terrific NJSA member Ashtin, and we look forward to seeing you down the road!
