Bailey Albright is the18-year-old daughter of Pat and Colleen Albright of Coldwater, Michigan. Bailey, along with her parents and older brother, Doug, own and operate a 150 head commercial sow herd. She is currently a senior and soon-to-be graduate of Coldwater High School.
This young woman is a go-getter and has been actively involved in numerous organizations during her high school career. She is currently the President of her local FFA chapter and also serves as Region 1 State Vice President for the Michigan FFA. As an FFA member, Bailey was also a member of the Ag Sales team and state champion Livestock Judging team. Bailey is also a member of the National Honor Society, 3rd baseman for the varsity softball team, and a mentor for Big Brothers Big Sisters.
While Bailey is definitely busy with her school related activities, she always finds time to raise and show pigs. She has been strutting her stuff in the show ring since she was 9 and has been a member of the NJSA since 2001. Her time in the show ring has been very successful. She has won showmanship awards at many events ranging from her county fair to the Michigan State Fair. She also was awarded 2nd place Skillathon and 4th place Overall Duroc honors at the 2006 American Royal.
Looking back on her show pig experience, Bailey says she has leaned a lot about commitment and communication. She says showing pigs requires commitment to your projects and communication with other showmen and the animals themselves.
After graduating, Bailey plans to begin her first year at Michigan State University in the fall as an animal science major. She hopes to one day be employed as an agricultural lobbyist.
Congratulations on all that you’ve accomplished Bailey. You definitely deserve the spotlight! We wish you the best in your bright future!
