Cory Brown is the 17-year-old son of Linda and Richard Brown of Alachua , Florida . Cory joined the NJSA in January 2007 and has since participated in the Southeast Regional, Leadership Conference, World Pork Expo Junior National, and National Junior Summer Spectacular.

While Cory hasn’t been an NJSA member for long, he has been showing hogs for the past 7 years as a member of both his local 4-H and FFA chapter. This past year he was named Senior Showman at the Florida State Fair. As a senior FFA member, Cory also participates on the vegetable judging team. Outside of his school activities, Cory keeps busy as a baseball and softball umpire. His other activities include assisting Florida swine producer, Ken Clyatt, who sparked his interest in the NJSA.

After learning of the NJSA, Cory jumped right in and attended the Leadership Conference in Indianapolis . He attributes his time at the conference to changing his future goals—leading him to aim for a degree in animal science, which he would like to obtain from either Iowa State University or Kansas State University . After receiving his degree, Cory would like to have a small purebred show pig operation. Cory has gotten a head start on his show pig production and is currently raising 3 purebred gilts, one of which he purchased at NJSS.

This outstanding young man is a perfect example of how the NJSA can change your life. Not only has the organization allowed him to meet new people, Cory also believes the NJSA has widened his horizons and given him opportunities that he would not have otherwise.

One thing is for sure, Cory is an exceptional NJSA member! We are glad to have you with us Cory and look forward to working with you in the future! Best of luck in all that you do!
