Kaley Bontrager, 16, is the daughter of Mark & Tammy Bontrager of Nappanee, Ind., and is no stranger to the NJSA. She has been an NJSA member for seven years.

Kaley is a junior at Northwood High School. Aside from showing pigs, Kaley plays basketball, participates in track and field, and is a member of her school’s student council, FFA chapter and Business Professionals of America (BPA). She is also been a member of her 4-H Club for nine years where she serves as vice president of the swine club. Kaley also shows sheep and cattle.

In her spare time, she enjoys hanging out with friends, listening to music, reading, baking and watching old movies.

Two of her biggest accomplishments are earning the honors of Champion Intermediate Showman and Champion Intermediate Judge at this year’s Team Purebred Show.

Kaley’s favorite memory as an NJSA member is when she met her best friends, the Smith triplets, seven years ago at her first NJSA event. She enjoys all of the activities NJSA has to offer. “My favorite ones are the gilt show and showmanship because they are both fun and competitive. I really like the competition.”

After Kaley graduates from high school, she plans to attend a four-year university where she will major in agriculture business management and marketing.

Good luck with all of your future plans and goals, Kaley! Keep up the great work!
