Mindy Cook is a 10-year-old NJSA member and daughter of Stephen and Kristin Cook. Mindy, her parents, and 7-year-old sister Madison live on a farm in Hartly, Dela. The Cook’s have quite an array of animals on their farmthey currently have hogs, dairy cattle, goats, dogs, cats, a hamster, and guinea pigs!
Mindy has been showing hogs for several years and has had great success in the show ring. She took home Grand Champion Duroc honors at the 2004 Delaware State Fair. It’s no surprise then that she says Durocs are one of her favorite breeds to show!
This young lady has been involved with the NJSA for the past five years. She enjoys showing at all NJSA events, but says the Eastern Regional is her favorite because it is closest to home. In 2006, Mindy was named the Overall Sweepstakes winner at the 2006 Eastern Regional. After making the long trek from Delaware to Louisville, Mindy also celebrated victories at the 2007 NJSS where she was awarded 9th place in the Landrace gilt contest, as well as 14th,7th, and 5th in the Skillathon, Judging, and Speech contests respectively.
While Mindy likes showing pigs the most, she also exhibits goats and dairy cattle! When she isn’t in the show ring, this animal lover enjoys riding horses. This young lady’s love for animals will definitely come in handy as she pursues her goal of becoming a small animal veterinarian!
Congratulations on all that you’ve accomplished Mindy! You truly have a bright future ahead of you and we wish you even more success!
