Friday, Oct. 2
8 a.m. – Gilts may arrive at Farm Show Complex
Noon-4 p.m. – Gilt check-in, showmanship and skillathon registration, silent auction items may be dropped off
4 p.m. – All gilts must be in place in barn
5 p.m. – Exhibitor meeting by show ring
5:30 p.m. – Showmanship preliminaries (Nov., Jr., Int., Sr.)

Saturday, Oct. 3
8 a.m. – Exhibitor breakfast
8-11 a.m. – Skillathon (All participants must be checked in and in line before 10 a.m.)
Noon – Showmanship finals (Skillathon award presentation follows showmanship finals.)
2 p.m. – Purebred Gilt Show (Duroc, Hampshire, Landrace, Yorkshire)
*Sweepstakes awards follow gilt show.

All hogs will be released after the sweepstakes presentation.
To compete, you must be an NJSA member, 21 years and younger.

Health Rules & Regulations

The Pennsylvania Bureau of Animal Health and Diagnostics Services will pass upon the health status of all entries upon arrival. Those not qualifying will not be admitted. To qualify, all animals must be free of any evidence of infectious, contagious, or parasitic diseases, and be clearly identified on a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (Health Certificate) of the state of origin prepared by an accredited veterinarian within 30 days of admission to the show. All breeding swine to be SOLD must have a certificate of Veterinary Inspection issued within thirty (30) days (on or after September 2, 2009) of the sale. A copy of the Certificate of Veterinary Inspection must accompany the swine to the EXPOSITION and be available for inspection at all times as additional inspections of swine Certificate of Veterinary Inspection will be made. The following information is required:

1. Certificate of Veterinary Inspection: All swine must be accompanied by a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) signed by an accredited veterinarian. The CVI must be issued within the 30 days prior to the date of arrival at the show. For out-of-state swine, the accredited veterinarian must send a copy of the CVI to the State Veterinarian of the state of origin for approval, and a copy must be sent to the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Bureau of Animal Health and Diagnostic Services.

2. Swine Identification Requirements: All swine must be officially identified with one of the following: A herd tattoo in combination with an ear notch; a state issued metal ear tag; or an ISO-compliant 15-digit tag (including RFID).

3. Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR) Form: All animals must be accompanied by a VCPR form. Pennsylvania law requires that a Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship exists, and that it be verified in writing for each exhibitor. This requirement is in addition to a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection requirement. To meet this requirement, a signed verification from the animal owner or caretaker, using the enclosed “Animal Owner or Caretaker’s Verification of Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship” form must be completed by each exhibitor. VCPR Forms will be collected at registration by Farm Show Staff members. Each animal to be exhibited must be listed on the VCPR form, OR be listed on an extra copy of the Certificate of Veterinary Inspection attached to the VCPR form.

Brucellosis and Pseudorabies Testing Requirements for Breeding Swine

Brucellosis
All breeding swine for exhibition must have had a negative brucellosis test within the 30 days prior to the date of arrival at the show, or must originate from a Validated Brucellosis Free Swine Herd, and the herd number, test results, and date of the last herd test shall be listed on the Certificate of Veterinary Inspection.

Pseudorabies
All breeding swine for exhibition must have had a negative pseudorabies test within the 30 days prior to the date of arrival at the show, or must originate from a Qualified Pseudorabies Negative Swine Herd, and the herd number, test results, and date of the last herd test shall be listed on the Certificate of Veterinary Inspection.

All breeding swine for sale must have had a negative pseudorabies test within the 30 days prior to the date of sale; or must originate from a Qualified Pseudorabies Negative Swine Herd, and the herd number, test results, and date of the last herd test shall be listed on the Certificate of Veterinary Inspection.
