ATTENTION:

Before submitting entries for the NSR Weanling Pig Extravaganza, please review the following information:


Complete a separate entry form for each exhibitor:
  • All information must be completed and proper fees submitted before entry will be processed.
  • All entries must be postmarked by March 23, 2017.
  • Entries are limited to a maximum of six head per exhibitor.
  • All late entries will be charged double the regular entry fees. All entry fees are non-refundable.
Animal requirements:
  • Recommended farrowing date for Extravaganza pigs is Jan. 1 and after.
  • All purebred weanling pigs shown in purebred classes must be accompanied with a pedigree or they will show as a crossbred.
  • Purebred pedigrees will be transferred to buyers by respective breed associations.
  • All pedigrees for purebred entries must be recorded by April 7, 2017 or an additional $25 rush fee will be charged.
  • All entries must be ear notched using the official NSR system (starting with number 1 in January and again in July of each year).
  • Barrows, boars and gilts are eligible for entry. Barrows and boars may sifted in the same classes, depending on number of entries.
  • Gilts will be sifted in separate classes.
  • All weanling entries MUST be listed on a certificate of veterinary inspection (CVI) to check-in at the show. For a complete list of health regulations, click here.
***NEW for 2017:

PSEUDORABIES (PRV) TESTING: NEW FOR 2017

  1. ALL ANIMALS MUST be individually tested for PRV on or after MARCH 21, 2017 UNLESS animals come from a PRV-qualified herd.
    1. Swine tested must have all official identification (sex, ear tag and ear notch) along with date blood sample was drawn (month, day and year) listed on CVI.
    2. Animals must test PRV-negative with all results on the dated CVI.
    3. Either the ELISA (gB ELISA), ALA or S/N tests are acceptable. Differentiable ELISA (g1 ELISA) test will NOT be accepted.
    4. If the herd of origin is PRV qualified, individual testing of each animal is not required. In this case, the PRV qualification number must appear on the CVI and the most recent quarterly herd test date (month, day and year) must be stated on the CVI.

BRUCELLOSIS TESTING: NEW FOR 2017

  1. ALL ANIMALS MUST be individually tested for brucellosis on or after MARCH 21, 2017 UNLESS animals originate from a validated brucellosis free herd.
    1. Swine tested must have all official identification (sex, ear tag and ear notch) along with date blood sample was drawn (month, day and year) listed on CVI.
    2. Animals must test brucellosis negative with all results on the dated CVI.
    3. The RAP, Standard Plate, Standard Tube or BAPA brucellosis tests are all accepted.
    4. If the herd of origin is brucellosis validated, individual testing of each animal is not required. In this case, the validation numbers must appear on the CVI and the most recent quarterly herd test date (month, day and year) must be stated on the CVI.
Extravaganza entry fee information:
  • Entry fees are $30 per head (late fees double after entry deadline)
  • A $15 Junior Participation Fee per exhibitor is required for participants age 21 and UNDER entering an open show.
  • A $75 non-member NSR exhibitor fee is required for exhibitors age 22 and OVER who have not paid the NSR annual dues or previous 2017 non-member fee.
